August 2024 Qtum Development and Community Updates
Qtum development is focused on 3 areas: Qtum Core, Ecosystem, and Qtum AI. In August there was a lot of work behind the scenes on a Qtum “Text to Voice” AI service. Alongside Qtum Qurator and Qtum Solstice, this text-to-voice service will allow users to type in what they want and choose a voice as the narrator.
We will have more updates on this later, as the development stage is still in the testing phase. Currently, the developers are picking the right models and testing to see how much computing resources we should devote to this undertaking.
Roadmap found on https://Qtum.ai
The other 2 development focuses are Ecosystem and Core. Currently, the Qtum Core Team is testing Qtum 26.1, which has been completed and is being tested. We expect this to be released in 2024 and should incorporate the latest Bitcoin Core updates.
Qtum 27.1 brings the latest Ethereum Dencun upgrades and is currently in development and we plan to launch this in 2025.
We will have a more in-depth article about these topics in September, as the scope required to dive into each development would derail this monthly update.

Right now, the Qtum Ecosystem currently focuses on QBRC-20 support and deploying Circle’s “Bridged USDC Standard” alongside a bridge to Ethereum.
There are 3 major components in the bridge: Qtum MetaMask Snap wallet, Circle’s Bridged USDC Standard set of contracts, and the Qtum/Ethereum bridge.
The MetaMask snap has been audited and is awaiting Consensys approval for listing on their Snaps directory. We have also submitted a progress report of Circle’s Bridged USDC Standard set of contracts to Circle’s team to inform them of our work.
The bridge audit was done by Certik and had no major security issues. While we wait for our wallet to get approved or denied by Consensys, we plan to hold an incentivized testnet bridge campaign in September or October. This is currently in development.
Please see the detailed list of work below on the bridge for more information
Bridge Progress
We are excited to share that we have made significant progress in our ongoing development efforts. The bridged USDC contracts have been successfully deployed on the Qtum Testnet, with a seamless bridge established to Ethereum Sepolia. This deployment ensures that our solution fully aligns with Circle's requirements and paves the way for a robust and efficient stablecoin experience.
Wallet Integration:
Metamask Snap: We have developed a "MetamaskSnap" to integrate seamlessly with the bridged USDC contracts, offering users a consistent and secure experience.
Fox Wallet Collaboration: We are working closely with FoxWallet to enhance mobile integration, ensuring users can easily interact with USDC through their preferred platforms.
In-App Access: We have facilitated in-app access to the USDC bridge, enabling a smooth user experience within Metamask and other partner wallets.
Smart Contract Compatibility:
Circle Integration: The smart contracts have been tested and confirmed to work efficiently with Circle's faucet on Sepolia, ensuring full compatibility and functionality with Circle's ecosystem.
Audits and Security:
Sayfer Audit: A thorough audit of the MetamaskSnap implementation on Qtum has been completed by Sayfer, ensuring compliance with industry security standards. Here's the link to the audit: Metamask Snap Audit Report for Qtum - Sayfer
Certik Audit: The Qtum-Ethereum bridge has undergone a security audit by Certik, reinforcing the reliability of our deployed solution. Here's the link to the audit report for the Qtum Bridge: Bridge Audit Report - Certik
Next Steps
Testnet Deployment: We are preparing to roll out the bridge for the testnet phase to finalize testing and validation.
Liquidity Pool Deployment: Our team is setting up liquidity pools based on Uniswap to support the operational phase post-launch.
We have made significant strides in deploying the bridged USDC contracts and integrating them with various wallets, ensuring a seamless and secure experience for users.
Our deployment of Circle's contracts has been instrumental in achieving these milestones, and we remain committed to making this implementation the cornerstone of our venture into Qtum DeFi and overall stablecoin access to our community.
That's it for August! Thank you for reading.
Warm Regards, The Qtum Team.
