February 2024 Qtum Development and Community Updates

February was an exciting month for Qtum. Since the release of our roadmap, the team has been working hard to make progress and release updates to the community. But that’s not the only thing that has been happening. Last month, we were swamped! Scroll down to get all the updates.

Qtum’s first ordinal inscription

Ordinal inscription

If you have kept up to date with Qtum’s developments, you should know that we’re integrating Ordinals. We recently had our first inscription on the Qtum Testnet, and since then, we have inscribed two more images.

See the transactions on the Block Explorer.

And here’s a peek at what it looks like to inscribe something: Ordinal inscription.

If you’d like to know more about Ordinals, you can look at our documentation. Spanning six chapters, it delves into their intricacies, comparing them with NFTs, elucidating the purpose and technical underpinnings of inscriptions, and explaining their implementation on Bitcoin and Qtum’s network.

Qtum roadmap progress reports Feb 20th and Feb 28th.

Since our roadmap announcement, the team has been working hard to deliver. On Feb 20th, we released our first progress report: Feb 20th Progress Report.

We posted updates on each of our roadmap’s goals, including Qtum Core, Ordinals, and the bridge. But this was not our only February update. On the 28th, we released another report: the Feb 28th Progress Report.

This is a brief synopsis of what we have been working on:

  • Development progress continues on the Qtum-Ethereum bridge, and Certik's audit is currently underway. The MetaMask Snap has been prioritized, and resources have been shifted to releasing it. If the audit process goes smoothly, the bridge should be released on time, allowing users to transfer wrapped ERC-20 tokens to Qtum and back.

  • The Qtum Core team has enabled delegating Qtum tokens to an offline staking node using a Ledger device, and they are researching new items in Bitcoin v25.1 that could be applied to Qtum. (Some of these updates were released in March)

  • Finally, Qtum can natively support multiple token standards without a layered approach, and the team is exploring whether BRC20 or ERC20 is better for certain applications.

Please refer to the progress reports linked above to get the details on our updates.

Our Co-Founder’s speech at Arte Talks Dubai

Miguel speech

Our co-founder Miguel Palencia discussed Qtum andWeb3, highlighting QTUM's role in enhancing digital experiences through interoperability. He envisions a future where blockchain is central to online life.

Qtum partners up with OOKC labs and Moonland

Partnership moonland and ookc

Qtum has joined forces with OOKC partner labs. They focus on building a robust Web3.0 value ecosystem, providing expertise, resources, and a global network to drive growth and success for their partners We are working with them to increase the exposure of the technical accomplishments of the Qtum blockchain.

We also shook hands with Moonland, a web3 game built from the ground up and aims to be one of the top projects in the rising web3 industry.

These partnerships are part of our mission to explore the web3 landscape and leverage Qtum’s technology to expand the blockchain ecosystem.

Qtum Inflation highlight

Inflation

On February we highlighted Qtum’s inflation. Qtum’s annual inflation is 0.5%, which will decrease to 0.25% in 2025.

QTUM is halved every four years. By 2045, we will have reached the maximum supply of 107,820,588.25 QTUM, of which 97% is already in circulation.

This means it will take another 20 years for the final 3% of QTUM to be minted.

Qtum was present at ETH Denver

ETH Denver

We attended ETH Denver and had a great time exploring all the projects present an sessions offered. We know the blockchain space is growing rapidly, and we firmly believe that blockchain is the future, so we are always eager to get to know all the projects out there.

Qtum makes use of the “Ethereum Virtual Machine” on top of our core UTXO blockchain. This makes us interested in what people are using it for. With the upcoming bridge from Ethereum to Qtum and back, it will be possible for ERC20 tokens to make an appearance on Qtum.

That concludes our February updates. We extend our heartfelt thanks for your continued support and enthusiasm.

Warm Regards, The Qtum Team.
